Drawing by Numbers was created by Tactical Technology Collective. We are an international NGO whose mission is to advance the skills, tools and techniques of rights advocates, empowering them to use information and communications to help marginalised communities understand and effect progressive social, environmental and political change. We believe that when people have full awareness of the potential and perils of information and are able to create and share information effectively, they are able to bring about positive social change on the issues that matter to them.
We extend heartfelt thanks to all the people we have interviewed for, or otherwise asked for help with, the Data and Design How-tos. So far these include: Andy Bichlbaum, Chipo Mhike, Christine Kwangari, Crofton Black, Daniel D'Esposito, David Taylor, Eric King, Grace Lile, Icaro Doria, Jestina Mukoko, Kamal Makhloufi, Kersten Nolte, Leo Bonanni, Mathieu Boche, Michael Flynn, Mikel Maron, Sam Smith, Shamiso Makande, Susan Middleton, Sushant Sinha, Tim Davies, Trevor Paglen and Yvonne Ng.
The identity and design of Drawing by Numbers were created by www.grobgrafik.de and implemented by Tactical Tech. Original illustrations for the Data & Design How-tos were created by Leo Koppelkamm. The visualisation tools profiles were written by a range of contributors, including Timo Luege.
Drawing by Numbers is funded by the Information Program of the Open Society Foundations.
